How Vedic Aspects Work (Graha Drishti)

But Vedic astrology adds special aspects unique to three planets:

Rahu and Ketu share aspects in most classical traditions with the planets they conjoin, though practices vary by school.

Reading Aspects Practically

When you see Mars in the 2nd house, for example, it aspects:

• The 8th house (2nd + 7th = direct opposite)
• The 5th house (2nd + 4th = 6th... wait - from 2nd, 4 houses ahead = 5th)
• The 9th house (2nd + 8 houses = 10th... 2nd + 7 = 9th)

The practical method: count from the planet's house position, not from the ascendant.

Conjunctions: The Strongest Configuration

When two or more planets occupy the same sign, they form a conjunction. This is among the most powerful configurations in Vedic astrology. Conjoined planets blend their energies, for better or worse: Jupiter conjunct Venus amplifies grace, beauty, and wisdom. Mars conjunct Saturn creates tension between urgency and restraint, but can also produce disciplined, sustained effort.

Conjunctions are read by sign and house just like individual planets, but their combined effect often dominates the house they occupy.

Translating Aspects into Life Patterns

The most practical approach:

1. Identify which planets are in aspect
2. Identify which houses and life areas they rule
3. Ask: do these areas reinforce each other or create pressure?
4. Ask: what repeated life pattern does this combination produce?

A Jupiter aspect to your 5th house (children, creativity) from the 1st house means your identity and personal expression naturally receive Jupiter's grace - often showing as ease in creative work, warmth with children, and intellectual confidence.

A Saturn aspect to your 7th house from the 1st house means life shapes your relationship approach through structure, delay, and earned partnership rather than easy early matching.

Neither is better. Both are readable, workable patterns.
